Jackie Robinson

Jackie Robinson was courageous because he had the courage to say "no". For example, the text states that, " Branch Rickey knew there would be difficult times ahead for the young athlete, and so made Robinson  promise to not fight back when confronted with racism." This quote shows that Rickey made Jackie promise to not fight when people scolded him. It would be hard because the people made Robinson very angry. He had to say no to fighting.

Also, Jackie Robinson was courageous because he had the courage to take a hit. In the biography I read, it says, "People in the crowds sometimes jeered at Robinson, and he and his family received threats." According to this quote, it says that when Jackie played baseball people would call him names and threaten him. He had to go through all of this so he could play baseball in the MLB. In order to be the first African American baseball player he had to take a hit for what he loved.
